Ok I know I am a mage but I have a warrior alt I am trying to create so don't kick me out of this board just yet.
I was just wondering what some of the advantages of the different specs are, and for what situations you would want to be one kind of spec or another?

Well I am a fury/arms warrior who dual wields, yes yes Im just pretending to be a rogue i know From what little I know if you want to dual wield you should concentrate upon the fury tree, if you want to use two handed weapons concentrate on the arms and if you using a shield and a one handed weapon use the protection tree. Fury tree has lots of little talents to help you increase your damage and increase the rate at which you gain rage. Flurry and enrage are two of the best talents I have used so far, when i hit with a critical my attack speed increases, which of course means more hit attempts which means more critical hit chances and of course means more rage. When I get hit with a critical enrage kicks in and my dps increases dramatically. Of course when both these abilities kick in is when I start doing some serious hurting. It comes down to hitting them hard and fast and putting the enemy down before they deplete your generous hit point pool. I used to have a different talent set up that really didnt work, the current one i am using is so much better and I saw a drastic change in my dps output as soon as I changed over to it. As for the other talent trees I am not sure about sorry.

Essentially, the way i see warrior specs: Fury - Dps/farming/lvling Arms - PvP/lvling Protection - Tanking/PvP when running flag
The truth is, if your like me, your going to respec closeto 20 times before u even hit 70, having found out some abilities being useless to your style of playing, while preferring certain talents nobody else like.
Fury is all about building a nutsload of rage REALLY fast (with your off-hand) and then letting your main hand do all the serious dmg attacks. So a slower weapon in you main hand and a fast weapon like a dagger in your off-hand. This is basing it on the dmg caused per swing, and not overall DPS of a weapon. You will find that fury is great when you just want to kill a mob fast, bandage or eat, and then move on to the next poor sucker of a mob. What i find in Fury spec is your want a lot of crits, and a lot of attack power.
Arms is better for PvP. Get me a warrior my level in arms spec that isnt running around with two Deathrunner blades, and ill beat him in a dual. WHY? Because even with a slow-ass 1H weapon, you will still be relying on smaller hits, and though it seems like you can DPS down something faster, Fury spec doesnt have much in the way of abilities/talents that are good in tactical PvP situations. The only exception being if your fighting a warlock or priest... you can avoid fears like a mofo in Fury. Arms spec has that ability called MORTAL STRIKE which is essentially the Arms spec's bread and butter. It crits a lot in PvP, it hurts a lot (especially clothies) and it puts a debuff on the target which reduces healing done. Its good for lvling, but not the best. Arms spec warriors have to focus on a few different stats : Agility for some armor and crit, Stamina to survive, Attack Power and immunity to ALL stuns, slowing, immobolizing, fear, sheep and charm effects. ... ITS PVP, WE CAN ALL DREAM OF A TRINKET THAT WILL SOME DAY COME....
Protection spec... well.... tanking. Thats it. Its average on both PvP and PvE but when i was protection specced, soloing took FOREVER. And i couldnt kill anybody in PvP... at all. Rogues usually ran away, and casters just owned me since all that armor meant nothing. Warriors were touch and go, but they always sundered me down until the armor was useless (they had time to do it lol). Hunters kited like jerks... tho that happens anyway. ONE thing about protection spec that is pretty unreal - u DONT have trouble holding aggro, and you DO get a lot of abilities that help you stay alive.
I didnt mean to write so much, but I love warriors to distraction. ALL warriors. Essentially Grace, your just going to have to experiment and see which spec suits your style of playing.
